KNOWING HOW TO READ THE LABEL
To make a conscious choice
- Nitrates and nitrites are one of the most important parameters to consider when evaluating water as they signal the presence of pollutants. The lower the nitrate levels, the higher the quality of the water. Today, the indication of nitrate levels is not obligatory on labels. The WHO indicates a safe value of 5 mg/l, the nitrate levels in the water of Fonte Cottorella is 1,80 mg/l.
- Undesired heavy metals, such as arsenic and nickel, can be found dissolved in water. Fonte Cotterella notes a complete absence of these elements in its water.
- Fixed residue indicates the content of mineral salts dissolved in the water. Fonte Cotterella has a low fixed residue equal to 296.4 mg/l, its contribution of mineral salts hydrates the body without weighing it down.
- Fluorides or the percentage of fluorides present in the water, an element that must be consumed in small doses. Mineral waters with an amount of fluoride greater than 1.5mg/l, must specify on their labels that daily consumption of their water, for children under seven, is not recommended. The water of Fonte Cotterella has 0,07 mg/l.
- PH indicates the acidity level of the water, the level must be between 6.5 and 8. Fonte Cottorella prides itself at 7,29, which is slightly alkaline.
- Sodium is a common salt, it is good to drink water with a low sodium content but the impact of it is minimal. The limit value for water is 20 mg/l, that of Fonte Cottorella is 6,17 mg/l.
